Here's What U.P. Rowing Has Going On:
2025 INFORMATION
2025 Adult Learn to Row ClassesJune 22 - July 17 Tuesdays & Thursdays. 8:00 am - 9:30 am or 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm (choose one). After classes conclude, we invite you to join the regular club rows for the rest of the season.
Step 1: Adult Meet & Greet (For Adults 18+) at the Ore Dock Brewing Company, 114 W. Spring St, Marquette, MI May 12, 2025 6:00-8:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend our no-obligation LTR Meet & Greet, and find out what we do. We will introduce ourselves with a little history of rowing, and our club's background. We will explain how our club rows work; what the LTR format will be; what to wear (and not to wear) on the water; routines and policies; and everyone will have an opportunity to ask questions, and even try a rowing machine. Step 2: Required Pre-Registration (deadline is June 20) Any interested adults wishing to enroll in our 2025 Learn to Row program, can download our Adult Membership Packet (coming soon), print it out, and then fill it out, making sure that ALL club requirements are fulfilled. No one will be allowed to attend any rowing sessions without pre-registering and completing ALL requirements. $225 includes coached classes and 2025 membership. Step 3: Attend Orientation Day and Then Your weekly AM or PM Class Check-in day (Foundations of Rowing) is Sunday June 22 2025, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. After that, attend your chosen class time (am OR pm). Pre-registration is REQUIRED to attend any sessions. Attending the check-in day on Sunday is mandatory for everyone. NOTE: AM and PM sessions are limited to 16 participants each to ensure quality coaching of every student. Class sessions: Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-9:30 am -- Or -- Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-7 pm |
2025 Youth Learn to Row ProgramJune - August (exact dates TBD), Wednesdays 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm, Saturdays 7:00-8:30am
Step 1: Youth Meet & Greet (for youth and their parent or guardian) in the Community Room (lower level) at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette on Monday May 5th at 6:00pm. Interested youth rowers (high school-age) and their parents/guardians are welcome to attend our no-obligation informational meeting and registration to find out what we do. We will introduce ourselves and share a little bit about our club's background, explain the the LTR format, what to wear (and not to wear) on the water, and routines and policies. Everyone will have an opportunity to ask questions and even try a rowing machine. Join us for an open house at our clubhouse where you can meet some of our club members, find out what we do, check out a rowing shell, and even try a rowing machine! Annual Iron Oars Regatta or Lake Superior Exhibition 2024We have hosted 14 annual regattas on beautiful Teal Lake in Negaunee, MI. After a 2 year break due to COVID, we came back with an exhibition event on Lake Superior in 2023. Since 2024 we are back to Teal Lake for the racing action! U.P. Rowing is hosting its 16th annual Iron Oars Regatta Scrimmage on the east end of Teal Lake in August 2025. The events will include rowers from our local community club, and other clubs from around the region. Racers will be on the water approximately 8:30 to noon, racing the 1000 meter course head to head in a sprint race. Spectators will be able to watch the action for free. Bring a Chair and a pair of binoculars and catch the action!

(Lake Superior at Founders Landing) Please note: If you are a first-year member taking Learn to Row this year, you are considered "Novice" until the end of the Learn to Row classes. After that, you are invited to sign up for the "Regular" rows, if you wish (first year rowers may not join Advanced rows nor Sculling rows).
